The Department of English Education helps students to build knowledge of the content and methods of Language Teaching, academic, professional, and creative writing. It also provides General Education in Communication, Humanities and Fine Arts, Diversity, and Ethical Citizenship. Through its course offerings, the English Department contributes to the larger Arts & Sciences mission of supporting professional programs in other colleges by enabling them to meet accreditation requirements and to enrich student's lives. The English Department serves the broader of expanding the boundaries of knowledge through its commitment to and investment in the scholarly and creative activities of its faculty, as these activities enrich the educational experiences of students and the overall intellectual environment of the college while allowing faculty members to participate in prominent scholarly conversations and creative endeavors on the regional, national and international level.

♠  Enhance student's ability to employ instructional technology in their teaching learning process and research in innovative and creative ways.
♠  Providing students with sophisticated writing and critical thinking skills useful not only in the classroom teaching but also in the world at large.

Geetha of our department presented a paper on Drill as an effective technique in developing oral communication skill in the National seminar on Professionalism in facing challenges of education organized by Ruben College of Education, Thadikarakonam, and it is published with ISBN 978-81-909565-2-9
♣  Our department student D. C. Jasmine and A. Aspin Mary Shyla won the best paper award for their paper entitled Cartoon: A novel way to ensure student involvement in the National seminar on Challenges and responsibilities in teacher education for quality enhancement organized by our college on 30th& 1st December 2012.
♣  Our department student V. Priyadharshini, published an article on In Danger- The English language in LPC Bulletin on Research Vol. 3, Issue.2 Jan: 2013, ISSN-2249-3417.
