Biology is an utterly interesting field of science that has been the center of focus for centuries. Biological science department provides a congenial atmosphere for student teachers to express their feelings freely and promote confidence among themselves. Various teaching techniques such as Debate, Group discussion, Team teaching and Project method are adopted to make teaching learning effective.

We acclimate diverse teaching – learning strategies such as project, seminar, group discussion etc., appropriate for the students preparing them to teach science in the secondary schools.

Departmental teachers attempt to promote all round development of students, in addition to their academic achievement. To supplement the classroom teaching  and smooth functioning of all co-curricular activities we organize Science club, Eco-club, field trip, garden maintaining, planting trees, workshop, celebrate national science days, quiz competitions etc. We motivate our students to participate in cultural competitions in various institutions to express their hidden potentialities. We provide a broad education in the fundamentals of biology via the classroom setting and through hands - on learning in laboratories.


  • Students of Biological Science Department achieved centum percent results in biology for the past 15 years in the university examination.
  • Each year our department celebrated National Science Day on February 28th.
  • Our department students participated and won prizes in various cultural competitions held at Holy Trinity College of Education, Melpalai and Mar Chrysostom College of Education, Kirathoor.
  • Our students performed a street play on “Say no to plastic” on 6th February 2020 at Kurumpanai near Coastal region.
